Why Aren’t New Builds Required to Have Air Conditioning in the UK?
Ok, so today’s story is a little more off topic than usual. While I’m more interested in startups and programming, I’m melting right now. It’s nearly 30℃ here in the UK, and that’s down to global warming—but I won’t get into that.
Recently, I moved into a new build. A new build without air conditioning. I find this odd. Summers is the UK are becoming far hotter, and yet we’re still left with inefficient technology (fans) to deal with the problem. Why is this? I just don’t know.
Unless you stagger into a hotel in London, it’s super unlikely you’re going to come across anyone who has a sensible machine to make humans cooler. After travelling across the Atlantic to Canada, it makes so much sense.
Across the pond, our Canadian and American friends have got it together. Air conditioning is normal, especially if you live in a condo. So why not over here, seeing as temperatures are set to carry on rising? Why not make it mandatory in new homes?
Ok, rant over—’til next week 😬
I’m writing about something that interests me every day for a year. This is day 46 of 365. ✌️
