When Drumline becomes reality
Before we start, let’s take a moment to thank teenage FAFSA-filling Christ that Nick Cannon’s presence on Howard’s campus isn’t a promo for a third Drumline. YOU SEE WHAT THE POWER OF PRAYER CAN DO?! #iTithe
Armed with a Nelson Mandela quote, and a picture depicting Cannon’s overly dressed for a DC summer garb, he has successfully enrolled as a freshman at the Mecca known as Howard University ( feel free to exclaim “YOU KNOW!!!”). When I first saw the news, I thought it to be in a ruse, or some publicity stunt for another inevitably corny Cannon production. This in fact was no laughing matter, but a quest for education, and a testament to the fact that you’re never too old to accomplish your dreams.
Cannon, 35, never got the opportunity to obtain higher educations and was swept into a life of show business and cougar acquisition. In his journey for educational enlightenment, Cannon will be studying strategic legal and management communications. He says his goal is to not just stop at his Bachelors degree, but to go onward and pursue a Ph.D.
During his sojourns to class, I hope he is the complete opposite of every character he’s ever portrayed. I wish him well in his pursuits and hope he takes time to indulge in everything the Mecca has to offer, well, except for iota #NoShade #JustKidding #AllTruth. In preparation for his collegiate grind, I hope he keeps this simple truth near and dear: “To be early is to be on time. To be on time is to be late. To be late is unacceptable”.
