4 of the hottest Summer web design trends
As we make our way towards the Summer and hopefully warmer weather and bluer skies, we thought that it would be the perfect opportunity to provide you with what we believe will be 4 of the hottest web design trends this Summer. This will help to ensure that you don’t fall behind your competitors when it comes to the latest web design trends.
Shallow Hero Headers
Hero header images have been around for a while now and usually consist of huge images which take up the majority of the space on a homepage before you work your way down the page with your mouse.
Nowadays, designers are finding new and improved ways of better utilising these images to create much more shallower hero images which are still the same as regular hero images but the images are about half as deep.
The good thing about this new use of hero header images is the fact that it allows more useful information to be pushed further up the page. Therefore, the body copy and calls to action are higher up the page thus allowing users to be able to interact with the website straight away. See an example of this trend on one of our websites below:

Using original illustration and photography
You have guessed it! Making use of original illustration and photography on websites is certainly likely to be one of the hottest web trends this Summer. By using these small pictures you can help to bring your website to life and add that personal touch. A number of sites sell these elements however, websites with custom-made illustrations really stand out from the crowd.
On the photography side, this may sound obvious but images that stand out the most are those that include the actual faces of the people behind the business. It’s certainly worth allocating the budget to get original photos professionally taken. Luckily for you, we have embraced this hot trend on one of our latest websites:

Next on our list is the use of material design across websites! This has been on the cards for a while as Google has been developing this and rolling it out across apps. Put simply, it’s a new and exciting way of designing to create a hierarchy of meaning and importance across any page of a website. As well as this, it makes use of multiple geometric shapes to create some great effects.
The Use of Full Screen Video
Last but not least is the use of full screen videos on websites. The use of video is one of the easiest ways to capture the user’s attention quickly and effectively. With the increased use of videos, homepage video backgrounds can help to quickly tell a user about a product or service. This trend is set to continue long into the future as along users still crave video content. We’ve used this trend for one of our clients below:
