It’s fine that some some local people are helping one homeless man. There are about 250,000 in L.A. county that are homeless part of the year and about 84,000 that are permanently homeless. Your plan to do nothing is clearly is not a viable response.

I am not advocating that we “do nothing”. That is a mischaracterization of what I believe and wrote.

My plan is to “do nothing” at the Federal level, where a great deal of money is wasted looking for a “one size fits all” solution. Rather, the problems should be handled on a local level. For some counties, that can look like large scale housing projects, or free clinics that offer medical care. For other counties, it might be helping ONE homeless man.
