Make amazing tasting coffee at home, save money
If you are a coffee drinker chances are you buying 2–3 cups of coffee a day which works out to be $2,5k a year on average.
The reason we all do it is because, let’s face it, the ones we make at home is shit, generally because either we are using instant coffee or old coffee beans. Here’s your simple solution: brew your own damn coffee at home or office and save your hard earned cash.
Simple solution: brew your own damn coffee at home.
Now how you asked?
Easy, here’s what you need:
- a really fancy coffee making scale otherwise a regular kitchen scale will do the job
- a cheap piece of equipment called the AeroPress or if you have a french press at home that would do just fine.
- fresh coffee beans ask the seller when the coffee was roasted. Ideally you don’t want beans that’s older than 1–2 weeks
- A manual grinder. With this one there’s lots and lots to choose from but from my experience of trial and error the best one you can get is the Porlex stainless steel ceramic burr grinder.
Method 1: AeroPress
Brewing time 2–3min, money saved $2.5k/year
Here are the steps:
- Grind 18 g of coffee rather coarsely(as a guide it should be just a little bit finer than sea salt)
- assemble the AeroPress parts and insert a paper filter on detachable plastic cap.
- Place it on the scare and tare with the top open
- Carefully add the grounded coffee m without wasting anything
- Evenly pour 36g of hot water, which should be 94 degree c, over the beans and let it sit for 1 min
- Meanwhile use the rest of the hot water to wet the plastic cap and paper filter
- After one minute has elapsed stir though the coffee to agitate the brew
- Fasten the cap on the AeroPress, flip the whole thing around and press your life away.
- Pour and drink!
Method 2: The French Press
Just kidding we all know how to french press.
