THE ROAD TO FINANCIAL WELLNESS WEEK 1 UPDATE

It’s been a great first week on #TheRoad2016 as my team and I embark on a mission to travel 15,000 miles and participate/host in financial wellness events while stopping in 50 pit stops across the country. I had the opportunity to introduce the road trip mission as well as discuss some of the content in my book,You Only Live Once: The Roadmap to Financial Wellness and a Purposeful Life.

On June 7, 2016 in my hometown of Elizabeth, NJ, we kicked off the road trip and book tour with over 200 people in attendance. The event was catered by Hewey and Louie Catering, and delicious tea was provided by Sharon Levy of Talking Tea in Style. I was joined on stage with Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, Jacqueline Miller, Chike Uzoka, and Clark Lagemann sharing their inspirational and educational stories, with Meg Fry of NJ Biz as moderator and interviewer.

In NYC (Pit Stop #2), I worked with the talented Melanie Lockert of DearDebtBlog.com and Tonya Rapley of MyFabFinance.com to hold an event sponsored by CentSai, a millennial personal finance website. The audience of 150+ was inspired and educate by many of my FinCon friends Sandy Smith of YesIAmCheap.com, Erin Lowry of BrokeMillennial.com, Stefanie O’Connell author of The Broke and The Beautiful Life, Max Martinez of Venture Fund, and Arindam Nag and Doria Lavignino of CentSai.

On June 9, we headed to Boston with an event planned to educate entrepreneurs at the Venture Cafe located in the Cambridge Innovation Center. The Cafe held about 200+ people with 50+ attendees stopping in during the financial wellness seminar. I was joined by Belinda Rosenblum of OwnYourMoney.com.

We ended the week at Pit Stop #4 in Portland, Maine with an intimate gather of community members, entrepreneurs and artists. It was a great conversation that centered around quality of life and how money plays a role in Portland’s growth. The event was moderated by Jennifer Hutchins of Creative Portland with David Weliver, founder of MoneyUnder30.com and Michael Goldman of GoldmanFinancialPlanning.com shared their stories and educate attendees on different aspects of financial wellbeing.

We’ll be on the road until September 21 with our final pit stop in San Diego in time for FinCon.
