Qualities of an Appealing Vacation Rental

When looking for a vacation rental, people tend to seek out places that are clean, convenient, and welcoming. The latter requires the property owner to ensure that it looks like a dedicated vacation space for a new family to occupy, rather than a home from which the residents have simply stepped out for a minute. Personal photos should be put away, it should be free of clutter, and there should be dresser and shelf space for guests to store their belongings.
Hosts can make guests feel particularly attended to by providing a list before they arrive of what is available in terms of kitchen and bathroom supplies. The kitchen should be well stocked with basic appliances, such as a microwave oven and toaster. There should be enough pots and pans to cook a meal, and flatware and plate service enough for 10 to 12 people.
Similarly, guests are often appreciative when the property has board games, playing cards, books, and a DVD player with videos to provide entertainment after a long day of traveling. This is particularly important for renters with children, a demographic that makes up a large percentage of the vacation rental market. Parents are likely to feel particularly warmly toward a property if it provides toys, games, and even a pack-and-play and high chair so that children feel as though they are welcome.
