Mornings in Manipal
Some of my mornings…some of my ‘special’ mornings in Manipal have been kind of magical. It did not matter that I slept the night before or not as long as I woke up or realized the morning before the sun came up. Thats what gave me the opportunity to realize the beautiful mornings of Manipal. It is probably harder to see it now. The view that I had in my time was spectacular. Now, the trees have been cut down and the view has been kind of blocked by the newly constructed buildings. But what I saw was a far wide view of the hills covered with trees and filled with mist. Those misty mountains were covered with so much fog in the morning that you cannot even see the surface. Floating hills with floating trees and all on that mist. And far away you could see an emerging sunlight. Slowly but constantly the sun emerging from the mist. That moment is not a very long one, but it is one that I truly treasure in my memories.
That sight does leave a chill and a calm feeling. Even though the day could turn out to be a hot one but that one special time in the morning provides a heavenly chill. And this is a very special feeling that anyone can experience any morning, anywhere. You just have to wake up to see the sunrise. But the mornings in Manipal I want to talk about are not just all about the view. It is weird because it has been a long time since my mornings in Manipal but I still do remember them. And I do remember them due to the sights, thoughts and the feelings related to those memories. It is funny how we associate things with memories. A simple smell could take us back in a time, a simple taste can make us remember our favorite childhood meal and a simple touch could make us feel close to our loved ones. These associative memories of ours is what makes our future connect with our past.
All in those mornings I used to get ready, pack my back and get out of my room early. Once out of the building I used to see that view from the ground level once again. With headphones in my ears and Red Hot Chili Peppers playing I used to walk up-hill to the common cafetaria to grab breakfast. But that walk is also part of the experience and the memories. Whenever now I listen to these specific Red Hot Chili Pepper songs, it takes me back to that walk. And for some reason every-time I used to do those early morning walks I used to listen to the same music.
Why? I don’t know, maybe it was the time, or the place or I was just into Red Hot Chili Peppers at that time. The music, the sights and the cold air is what I associate my mornings in Manipal with. Manipal is a beautiful place if one looks past the ‘city’. If I could go back to Manipal for just one day in time then it would surely be a day where I woke up early to experience Manipal mornings.
“Thank You Manipal for the Experiences and Memories.”
