You Are The Vehicle To Your Destination.

Do you know where you want to go in life? I’m sure most will say that they don’t know. I sure didn’t.

I got this crazy thought on my drive back home from the gym this morning: we are the vehicles that are capable of transporting us to our final destinations.

If you think about this analogy, our body is our transportation vehicle. We can use our body to move, think, talk, etc., just like a car can be used to move us from point A to point B and can be a reflection of who we are or are trying to be. Our body, just like a car, needs critical components to make it run. We need to be alive right? So we need a beating heart; a running engine on a car. We need to be sturdy and independent right? So we need bones and muscle; a frame and chassis on a car. We need energy to move around right? So we need food; gasoline. There may be other critical components, but these are the ones that are the most relevant to what I am trying to explain. But as you can see, we have a lot of similarities with cars, except that one is flesh and bones and one the other is metal, plastic, and wires.

Still, I haven’t mentioned two very critical components of this vehicle. What is going to make it go forward, backwards, or even move at all? Even more importantly, what is going to make the engine start? The car can be in perfect condition and still not move, right? It can be parked in the garage waiting for someone to turn it on and take it out for a drive or wait for some kind of devastating event, like an earthquake or something to make it move unintentionally. It needs a driver or an unwanted event.

Going back to my analogy, what do you think has the capability to turn the engine on? Your thoughts. Your thoughts give you the motivation and energy needed to turn the key. Your thoughts get you pumped up and warm you up for what is to come, right? Just like an idling car, you’re ready to take on every obstacle the road ahead has to offer. However, turning the engine on doesn’t mean that you’re moving. You’re just there. Still in the same place, but with a whole lot of potential to go to point B.

So what do you need now? A driver who can control it. Who do you think is the driver for your body? Yup, you got it. It’s you. After turning on your engine (getting your thoughts together), you need some form of action to get you moving in any direction. In a car, you need to press on the break, step on the clutch if its a manual, and then put it in the gear you want. In your body, these actions would translate to taking a small break to organize your thoughts and not let the car move aimlessly (pressing the break), releasing some tension and not stress out the small things (pressing the clutch), and then doing that one action that is going to get you moving (putting it in gear). The direction you decide to move towards is up to you.

My Final Thought

This is my first article ever! I probably messed up my sentence structures or grammar somewhere in there, but it’s cool, at least I got my vehicle moving ;). I just want to set my thoughts free. The key point to remember about this article is that your thoughts and actions are the driving forces that ultimately take you wherever it is you want to go.
