Customized Trending Hashtags on Twitter
If you’re like me, you probably understand what one of the top ten trending hashtags are on Twitter at any given time. For me, that means I rarely look down there to see how I could potentially engage other users to grow my follower base or to add value to them.
Up until recently, the best you could do to change what hashtags were showing was to change your location, either to a new city or to a larger context like country.
But, after complaining for a few minutes, i started looking around to see if there was any way i could find trending items that people were actively talking about. If you aren’t aware of Moments, that can be a good avenue to see what news stories are currently popular, maybe that’s enough for you.
I kept digging, and I found that when you open up the “change” menu under Trends, there is an option at the very bottom called “Tailored Trends”. If you’re like me, this will offer FAR more options to engage twitter users. It’s not quite perfect, but even with an increase of 1 or 2 additional hashtags per look you’re engagement potential grows quickly. In addition, they fall into the types of categories you either historically engaged in or might engage in.
Get out there, give “Tailored Trends” a try, and let me know below if it helped you!
