Dalibor, I actually believe that the producers wanted to observe the “epic poem” story structure of patterned events, recurring motifs, and formal narrative construction of the six previous films. Personally, I admire that commitment. It keeps the new ones from being entirely alien to the audience, particularly when viewing the series as a whole. In fact, that’s why I also admire the breech in the underlying philosophy of the central conflict that we’re seeing in Last Jedi. An epic saga that stops to truly question its own narrative patterns is a rarity.
