Longview Lull: Wide Open Spaces

With a name like Longview it should be obvious but in the panoramic photo, you can see how long the view is. It’s incredible. Awe-inspiring. Tremendous.

This view is looking west. North is to the right and the road is going directly south. The Rocky Mountains are in the distance. Most peaks are at a height of 9,000 feet or so. A few poke up over 10,000. The highest mountain in Alberta, Mount Columbia, is just over 12,000 (I climbed it about 35 years ago).

The town of Longview is down the road at the bottom of the hill. Also at the bottom of the hill is a road the goes west up to Highwood pass and the intended Kananaskis country. On the way is Eden Valley, a wonderful little community owned by the Bearspaw Band, part is the Nakoda First Nation.
