When we say “black lives matter,” there’s an unspoken “too” on the end of that statement (“black lives matter, too”). We have to say this because so far, we have acted in ways that place more value on some lives (white) than other lives (those of color). No one is saying that those other lives *don’t* matter, but rather that we must continually remind ourselves that black lives matter, too, until we are at a place where we act in such a manner as that statement outlines.
