Pre-Blackfish Email (2004)

Response to Medium’s World Poetry Day Challenge — Change a message from your sent email into a poem. (I rebelled and went with Inbox)

Hey Doll Baby-
Lovin’ these Sea World pics!
Black and white, flyin’ high
with a lady on his lips.

Why’s his fin all side-flipped,
though? Looks broken,
flimsy, you know? Still soaked
you in the Splash Zone, so

he must still have some play in
him, that glossy Tilikum.
But makes me sad for them—
no place to swim. Forget Willy.

I say, Free Tilly.
Ocean’s his home.

Love, Mom
