Kurt Vonnegut Walks Into a Bar
Electric Literature

I was 50, working in the VA for 2 years, a veteran (but not combat and no military PTSD) myself, when I finally realized- as my kid read it for a college class- that The Children’s Crusade (Slaughterhouse Five) was documentation of Vonnegut’s (and that of many of his fellow WW2 veterans) PTSD. I’d first read that book as a teen. For me he was the greatest living American author, now I dunno if he outranks Twain as the greatest dead.
