I’m not saying that getting a government job is easy, it’s quite difficult and most people need to get in through a special hiring program for federal positions. My issue is the way the author made it seem like she would need to undergo a total identity change in order to pursue a position in the public interest. BTW, I’m not a government attorney, I work for the government and put to use my skills from law school. I would also like the higher-paid attorney positions, but even with a foot in the door like I’ve had, those positions are out of reach. With that said, the transition of working NOT as an attorney has been pretty easy, and not the challenge the author makes it out to be.
