I feel like the entirety of your article is a symptom of an even larger problem that trickles down into almost every component of our lives. Everything we think, are, do, and want has become profitable. That profitability on us as humans not only, I feel, enables these problems, but it sets the backdrop for a lot of what contributes to it indirectly. I’m married, 28, in college, white (my wife is similar age, also in college, and mostly white too) and I feel like, if we weren’t together then yeah, she’d be in a similar situation (externally).
Just as a random note too, I feel like we will never do whats in our best interest (socially, emotionally, mentally, spiritually) because we’ve found out how to get the masses wrapped up in their other best interests (economically, short-term gratification, long-term fears/concerns, etc).
If any of that makes any sense.
