Quite simply, the Tesla software can be tuned to not miss such a situation again, and that can be applied to all Tesla cars.

Unfortunately if human drivers miss it,, even if they survive and learn, it is only one human that benefits from the experience.

I’m sure we will see increasingly more of these stories in the next few years. Although autonomous cars will continue to get safer, they will also start to conver a lot more miles. That is ignoring any conspiracy theories about big oil pushing to smear Tesla.
