Five Nights at Freddy’s is a small game series created by solo indie game developer, Scott Cawthon, responsible for a number of small christian indie games on Android, Ios, and PC. Getting lots of hate, mostly referring to the fact that all of his characters look like creepy animatronics from a family pizza/arcade restaurant. He decides to make something out of his comfort zone, to make a horror game. Thus the creation of Five Nights At Freddy's.

Five Nights At Freddy's is a short horror game series made in Clickteam-Fusion. This game engine is usually used for point and click adventure games, and “FNAF” kinda is, and kinda not. The first game’s game-play is this, you (The security guard) are working the night shift of Freddy Fazbears Pizza, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 am. You cannot move, there are two doors on each side and a computer in front of you.

FNAF 1 Office

There are four buttons, two on each side, one for each sides light source, and the other to close each doors. Now, one person must ask, why? Why would you want to turn on lights and close the doors? This is where the horror comes in…

The animatronics are ALIVE, and they are trying to stuff you into an empty Freddy Fazbear suit!

Bonny at the door

The main objective of the game is to close the doors before they come to attack you, and do it until the night ends at 6:00. Pull up the computer to find the animatronics in the building.

This game is very simple, then why is it so popular? Apart from the easily recognizable animatronics, the big reason is the story. If you play all five nights, get the paycheck and stop playing the game, you are kind of playing it wrong. The story in these games are NOT handed to you on a silver platter. You, as a player, have to go out of your way to find what you possibly can of the story there is. And boy, is it a crazy one!

I am going to give you a short version of the story…

Freddy Fazbears has been around since 197X, and in the first restaurant, a child murder happens. By someone only dubbed by the FNAF community as “Purple Guy” he goes on to go to the FNAF 1 pizzarea in 199X. and murders four more. The original soul that died in the old restaurant gave these four children's souls new body’s, in the form of the animatronics. That is the brief summery, but the story is much MUCH more deep than that, because factors like Golden Freddy, The Puppet, The Shadow animatronics, “The Bite Of 1987”, and more come in to play in the sequels.

FNAF 2:

The sequel is very similar to the first game, but there is more animatroinics and more confusion.

The Office from FNAF 2

There are no doors and 11 animatronics. The only defense is a Freddy mask you can put on when a robot enters your room.

The mask on with Balloon Boy in the room.

You also have to pay attention to the puppet and wind up the music box to keep him away.

The puppet comes out of the box when its too late.

The story only becomes more complicated when the random Easter Eggs happen.

Shadow Bonnie randomly entering your room, and crashing the game.
Shadow Freddy in the parts and service room.

Not only that, after you die, sometimes you play a short Atari like mini-game explaining more of the story…

Purple Guy Attacking you in a mini-game.

This game is perfect for giving the player anxiety. This game is heavily relayed on multitasking and the mood is perfect for this feeling. At times you really FEEl like you are trying to protect yourself from the animatronics! So this game is for you if you like being scared and tested at the same time.

FNAF 3:

This game is almost COMPLETELY different from the last 2, yet has the same core mechanics of them. How? One (un-closeable) door. No mask. One computer from the 70’s and ONE bloodthirsty animatronic. The year is 203X. Yes, in the future, the pizza restaurants are all closed down, and a few creepy relic collectors create a haunted house with real objects from the original pizzerias. What they know, is that the animatronic that they collected is completely powered off. They where wrong, and YOU are the security guard, in the night shift.

FNAF 3 office.

One animatronic? Thats easy! whats wrong with that?

Here is the problem, not only is there a door that you cant close, the vents are leaking… something… and the computer that is used to fix that is from the 70’s because the boss wants it the haunted house to be “realistic.” So you see hallucinations, and lets just say, there “distracting.”

Phantom Foxy about to attack.

Even though these hallucinations cant kill you, they can jump-scare you and make the computer malfunction.

Computer with all of the systems malfunctioning.

The only one that CAN kill you is springtrap, an old animatronic that was never seen before in the sires, and thats because he was working in 1974, a time that no FNAF game has taken place in… YET… (hint)

Springtrap mid jump-scare.

The only way to keep him away from you is by playing audio in the halls of the building that he will be attracted to, now if the audio goes out, you have to spend a few seconds away from the cameras, and that few seconds can be fatal if you're not focused. Not only that, it may be hard to spot him because of the dark lighting and the static in the camera.

One of springtraps more obvious spots on the map.

This game is perfect at making you hang at the edge of you're seat. Not as anxious, but thats because you need to focus on time, and wonder when a hallucination will eventually pop up. So this game is very moody, and very scary compared to the other games. But there is one game I think is scarier.

FNAF 4: The Final Chapter:

FNAF 4 is THE scariest game in the series in my opinion. No computer. No cameras. No buttons to close the doors. No mask. How are you supposed to defend yourself? Your hearing and your running speed.

You are a small boy in his house alone in 1975, and know that there are animatronics in your house.

Bedroom brightened up.

Bonnie on the left, and Chica on the right, and foxy in the closet (at least most of the time.

Chica in the right hall.
Bonnie in the left hall.

Before you flash the light, you must lisen closely to the door, if you hear breathing, CLOSE THE DOOR, if you shine the light, your dead.

Also, you need to look BEHIND you.

The bed behind you with no danger…

Because when the time of night progresses, a few creepy things called freddles will pop up behind you, and like the puppet mechanic from the second game… if you wait too long, “he” will attack.

Freddles on the bed behind you.
Jumpscare when you wait too long without checking behind you.

Also… the jump-scares in this game are truly terrifying, just… look…

Chicas jumpscare.
Bonnies jumpscare.
Foxys Jumpscare

This game is mostly story content, and if you like getting scared, get this game, if you like the story, get this game, if you like both, this might be your favorite game in the sires! (its mine anyways)

FNAF: SL :

Oh no… here we go again, the creator of this game series Scott Cawthon said that FNAF 4 was the end of the main series. The MAIN series…

He has announced that a new game with different animatronics but stay in the same universe, making it new game in the series, but staying away from the main story. Fans are split with this one, is four enough? or is any new game a great one. Believe it or not, somethings need an end, or else you will make the story way too complicated to follow, or the developer just runs out of ideas. So is this a good thing, or a bad thing? we will just have to wait to find out…

These images are all we know about the game, other than it has a October 7th release date…
