Islamic Fundamentalism
Apparently Ben Affleck and Bill Maher has some heated “debate”, shout contest, about radical Islam. Bill believes that all Muslims hold fundamentalist views; such being that if one disobeys anything the Quran they should be put to death. While Ben disagrees and states that Bill is caricaturing all Muslims based on the actions of a small group of people.
Before you take a stance, change the scenario a little bit.
Because of…
— all police brutality occurring, all law enforcement officials are corrupt.
— the alarming rate of HIV/AIDS in the African American community, all African Americans must have the disease.
— the Holocaust, all Germans must be Nazi’s.
— terrorism, all people from the Middle East must be terrorist.
— slavery, all Caucasians must be racist.
Hopefully you see how flawed this logic is. Associating a certain social stigma to a group of people, based on the minority of those people does more harm than good.
I’m not saying that the actions of the minority, in this case ISIS, are justified. But categorizing all Muslims as radical is just as big of an injustice as killing someone because of their beliefs.
