Mind Matters, Day 2.

Thoughts from a mental work in progress.

Having started a morning pages ritual of sorts yesterday alongside continued meditation, I found myself waking up this morning wishing to get to my writing straight away. It’s strange how something can become normal, so quickly.

I’ve read that for something to become habitual, it has to be repeated over an extended period of time, but I guess when you enjoy it and it feels good straight away to do it, then it’s that bit easier to get back to it without feeling any real effort.

Day 2 proved a shade different to the first — in that today manifested into a grand total of 2 pages against yesterday’s 4. The writing was a little slower to flow, but perhaps that’s a reflection of the better sleep I’d had last night versus the previous. It’s strange. I guess there was less tearing through my mind when I woke up today.

Bottom line — it does have a helping and lasting effect throughout the course of the day, and I can’t deny I’m a little surprised by that. I’m not complaining, just very pleasantly surprised.

Have you tried morning pages before? Or a daily recap at the end of each day? I’d be particularly interested hear any thoughts on the latter.
