Before beginning a career as an organic farmer in Isanti, MN, Jerry Westrom attended the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN, where he studied business and economics at the Carlson School of Management. While attending the university, Jerry Westrom served as a chair at the National Agriculture and Marketing Association (NAMA).

As the largest association of professionals for agribusiness and marketing in the nation, NAMA is designed to help member make contacts in the business along with learning business skills in agriculture. NAMA features an annual Agri-Marketing Conference, where members can share ideas and learn about new products and marketing initiatives.

Being named to a chair position to represent a university chapter at NAMA is an honor that can lead to greater opportunities in the organization. Chairs serve on the executive committee for the Agri-Marketing Conference, helping to plan the annual event activities. Chairs are nominated and elected by the individual chapter they represent.
