Fuck Off Fund - 1 - April 2016

I subscribe to Fuck Off Fund Monthly, and deeply understand the need for a Fuck Off Fund. I also keenly understand the sentiment “I did not like the sentences describing my life.” Thank you, Paulette Perhach, for your writing. I’ll be budgeting in something for your Patreon — you’ve earned it.

To Dos:

  1. How deep my shit really is: $34,679.40. This includes student loans, credit debt, and personal loans that I’m deeply embarrassed had to happen. I’m currently expecting 5 years to pay it all off at my current income.
  2. Someone who loves me that I want to hold me accountable: I have three someones. Shawna, Andrew, and Alex.
  3. Start your own blog: I’ve been making progress on my own, but I think the added accountability will boost my progress.

I created a “Budget Run” when I received my big helping hand in September, and I’ve used it to track my finances out into the future. It’s been very helpful. I have several different goals I want to achieve:
* Have a net gain in my checking account from one month to the next.
* Be able to pay more than the minimum on debts and loans.
* Simultaneously pay into a Fuck Off Fund, at least $100/mo. Fund goal is $5k.

Paulette, I really like your check in format, so I’m going to use it.

April 2016 Money Review

  1. How I’m feeling about money this month: Better, better. I’m working overtime, which boosts my weekly paycheck by ≈ $100, or ≈18%.
  2. Checking account over $500: Yes! $987.44
  3. Biggest expense this month: I had to pay taxes because last year, a retirement account from a previous employer was payed out. $489.98. And then my car needed $783.42 for new spark plugs & wires, new valve cover, and fixing a radiator leak. I was only able to pay that because American Express expanded my credit limit by $1500. This wasn’t a great month for me.
  4. Expected to save this month: $100
  5. Did save this month: $100
  6. Saved at least 10% of income: ($320) No, we’re not there yet.
  7. Made a budget for next month? Yup.
  8. Reviewed my bank statement: Yup.
  9. Best thing I did for my money last month: Started an actual Fuck You Fund. Also, deciding to cut down on my planned (and unpurchased travel) for the year. Bye-bye, out of state flights.
  10. Most important money task for next month: Increase credit card payments to pay them off FASTER.
