Dear Diary: I am excited about the upcoming school year (and the future of humanity)

Dear Diary,

Amery, here. Gosh, I am so excited to be starting school on Tuesday. I really think this is going to be my year to shine. As I’m sure you know, last year was a little rough. I didn’t do too hot. But I am back and better than ever.

Now that summer is finally ending I feel like I’m seeing it for the first time. A lot happened, but it was sooo boring. I mean of course my friend Eura still isn’t talking to half of her family. I don’t know how to help her anymore. I mean of course I’ve tried but I think we are going through a rough patch because we keep getting in fights. We still have a few classes together this year so hopefully it won’t be too awkward.

Speaking of school, our science teacher Mr. P. just got fired! Or he quit. I don’t know it all seems rather confusing.

Apparently, he got caught stealing other students school supplies and random personal belongings they left in the classroom. I heard from other students last year that they felt unsafe when he demonstrated experiments for the class, like he didn’t know what he was doing. I guess they were right because it was brought to our principal’s attention that he didn’t have any formal scientific training!

I only interacted with him a few times so I’m not sure what to make of it. I will say that he seemed very eccentric.

I’m not too sure about our new science teacher though, Mr. W? All the parents seem to like him, but I’ve heard he plays favorites and can be kind of mean and a harsh grader depending on if he likes you or not. Science has never been my strongest subject so keep your fingers crossed!

While we’re on the topic of school, my dad got an email from the school superintendent today. They wanted to let everyone know they are shutting off the water for a few days while they revamp some of them. Lucky me, my school and 19 others will have brand new water system when we come back to school! You heard right we are finally upgraded to the state of the art BioLuminesce-ME multi-colored water filtration system! The superintendent says that it will be a few years before our school has the power to get all of the new colors currently available, but we will definitely have the basic primary color pack ready for our first day.

I am soo excited! I’ve been waiting for our school to get this for forever! Now that we have it I think my chances of getting invited into Nora W.’s slumber parties. I can feel it. Oh! Did you know? Eura told me that Nora’s parents just bought her some super fancy water filtration system that is even better than the most updated model of the BioLuminesce-ME? I know. Crazy right?

Hmm, what else? Oh, my cousin Inda Stry is in trouble again, but what else is new? Gosh she is a hot mess. Don’t tell her I told you this, Diary, but she can really be a brat sometimes. Apparently, this time she bullied Shelly B. into trying some drug called PV that has caused Shelly’s skin to turn a faint blue color. Inda’s parents are worried about getting sued because they keep trying to tell Shelly and her parents that she isn’t in any danger, but I guess they aren’t completely buying it. I don’t know, I think it would be kind of cool to have your skin be bright blue. It’d be like drinking from a BioLuminesce-ME but more potent.

I could never afford that anyway though so maybe not.

Anyways Diary, my dad is calling me downstairs so we can go school supply shopping so I’ve got to go. I’ll be back to update you again soon!

Kisses,

— Amery Erica S. Hart.
