Secretly Befriending an Angel [narrative 3]
After all the commotion made by the neighbor who knew everything about life and dead[v], like everyone else I raced the next day[str] to Pelayo’s house to see if it was true that they had and angel in their courtyard. To my surprise and other[v; ‘utter’]shock I arrived to find the angel locked up in the chickens coop. I didn’t understand their want to[g; ‘for’] clubbing the angel to dead[v]. He probably had a message from God for us[p] but we were too wrapped up on[g] how he looks[g] to pay attention to why he’s really here. I waited for Father Gonzaga to have better luck with the angel since he was a man of God. I was very disappointed when he too started to look for human qualities in the angel.
While waiting for[g/str; Shouldn’t it be ‘While waiting for a response to’?] father Gonzaga’s letter to return[v; Missing a word here i.e. ‘from the’]highest court only to be disappointed again[p] I decided to stand in line with everyone else for a chance to talk to the angel. My first and second attempt proved futile. The angel did not even look my way when I spoke to him. With so many impatient people waiting for their turn to see the spectacle that the angel has become I had to leave to give the others a chance to see the show they paid for.
After the fever of the captive angel died down[p] I went back at night to speak to the angel. Again he didn’t immediately react until I asked “Did you complete your mission angel?” he turned he’s[g; ‘his’] bald head my way and starred[v; ‘stared’] for a moment. When I started to get uncomfortable under he’s[g] stare and was about to walk away the angel slowly nodded he’s[g] head. Shocked beyond believe[v; ‘belief’] that the angel answered me[p] I took a hard seat on the ground. “You do understand what we are saying to you?” again the angel just nodded he’s[g] head. “But you can’t speak to us for some reason?” another nod.
I proceeded to ask him what I believed was the most important question: “If you can’t speak to us. How are we supposed to understand and help you?” this blinding light started to shine from within the angel. Scared I cover[g] my eyes with one hand and put my head on the ground with my other hand to shield my head as if an explosion was about to go off. With my head down and still covering my eyes I could tell that the light was dimming. I risked a peek and was met with the most amazing sight. A young handsome angel stood before me in all his glory.
The First thing the angel said to me was “Thank you, Alejandro.”
“How do you know my name?”
“I’m an angel of course.”
“[v; I suggest starting with ‘After’]All this time why reveal yourself now that no one is around?”
“Your concern and eagerness to hear God’s message set me free. I came here to save the child. It was not he’s[g] time yet. Battling the demon I won[str; rephrase this another way i.e. ‘I won the battle with the demon’]but I was weakened to the point[v; missing ‘that’]I became a human with wings and my appearance changed befitting someone of my true age. To be able to go home I have to stay on earth until one human show’s me mercy and love for being a creature from[v; ‘of’] God so I could be free and start to heal. You did that with your persistence and eagerness.”
With a smile on my face I got up and dusted my behind and told the angel he was welcome and that I hoped he would have a save trip home.
“You can go now child. Don’t come back. I will revert back to my vessel and start to heal in the morning and eventually make my way home. Pray for your brother[v; plural] and sisters so their faith can become stronger then[v; ‘than’] what their eyes can see.”
I just wanted to know one more thing before I left the angel to never see him again:
“What’s your name angel?”
“My name given by my father[p; Father is capitalized if you mean God] is Castiel.”
Grateful I said “Goodbye angel, I will pray for them.”
