Dubai — Not Just a Desert
Dubai, for those who don’t know, is one of the seven Emirates in UAE. It is often confused with the six other Emirates or with other middle eastern countries. The first thought that probably comes to mind for many people when they think of Dubai is ‘terrorism’. Most people, not all. Dubai is usually portrayed as a place where the only things that go on are parties and other illegal activities. It is not considered as a ‘safe’ place mainly because it is middle eastern. Fact is, none of this is true. Period. Dubai is actually the complete opposite.
It’s been four years since I moved to Dubai and it is yet to disappoint. From the moment I got off the plane, I was in awe. Literally, the moment I got off. The airport is probably one of my many favorite places in Dubai. I doubt many people add the airport to their list of favorite places. Simply putting it, it was beautifully designed. Again, how often are airports described as beautiful? Not just the airport, but every building in Dubai is unique. The architecture and layout of all places here including houses, apartments, parks, office buildings and tourist spots is mind blowing. World-famous sites like Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Mall and Atlantis are sources of wonder for people everywhere. It doesn’t stop here. Dubai is developing in all spheres of life, coming closer to it’s goal of being the happiest place in the world for people to live in. Dubai is a little world in itself. It can be a chief example of ‘Unity in Diversity’. You will find people from all countries and all races living in this city. The vast array of facilities and opportunities offered to the residents here is something we are all thankful for — transport, education, recreation, shopping, housing, cuisine and most importantly, safety. Yes, safety in a middle eastern city. Hard to come across isn’t it? Dubai is ranked among the top cities in the world in terms of safety. Cleanliness — a concept which is so rare in the modern world is given a lot of importance here. There are strict rules made in order to maintain the cleanliness of the city and it is made sure that they are followed. Bridges, roads, traffic signal posts, footpaths, sign boards, everything is regularly cleaned and maintained. Sometimes, you feel that the roads could be as clean as your house….no joke.It is safe to say that Dubai can be considered as a source of inspiration to many places around the world.
It certainly sounds like Dubai is heaven on earth. But like every other place, it is not 100% perfect. The fact that Dubai, along with all the other Emirates has risen from a desert to such a developed country over such a short period of time is a guarantee that they are not going to stop now and they most definitely will not until they have achieved their goal.
So, this was my first attempt at posting a blog and if you’ve read this then thanks for trying it out….I guess. Hope you liked it!
