Ronald, I just stumbled on this thread and want to say, welcome. You aren’t alone in wandering around Medium world. Stick with it, take time, try things others suggest and things you try on your own. Do what works for you, post your work when you feel it’s ready and let go of outcomes. Again, let go of outcomes. I only came here a couple months ago and only began writing intentionally recently. I do have a fair amount of tech and social media experience and can tell you, you’re on the right track. So, recommend, follow people and publications, comment on other’s work, and ask selected publication owners to be added as a writer. Slowly, you’ll build a network and become more visible. But, letting go of outcomes is apparently a key to serenity here. I posted this piece that speaks to my own struggle with recognition — it may or may not resonate. Again, welcome.
