The Revolt of the Bourgeoisie
Given the way most of us and the media seemed to get played by this election, perhaps we should be very skeptical of the white, working-class (WWC) thesis of why Clinton lost.
It turns out, Hillary struggled mightily to win over suburban, college-educated voters. Here’s some data:
The average Trump voter is not poorly educated or unemployed, nor does he live in a rural area. Back in May…newrepublic.com
The media has paid a lot of attention throughout the campaign and afterward on rural and working-class white America…cookpolitical.com
The really interesting (and scary) question is what do relatively well-off, college-educated whites hope to gain with Trump? …or could it be they’re fearful of losing their status in ‘’ascendant America’’ and/or are feeling like they’ve been cheated by the ‘’establishment’’ and they, in turn, do not feel as well off as their income and education might indicate?
What do you think?
