When I was a kid, Ursula was the scariest thing about Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Now, it looks like the next generation will be traumatized by the pallid, Steve Buscemi-esque appearance of the beloved character Flounder in the upcoming live-action remake, swimming into cinemas May 26, 2023.

Film fans did not like Flounder in the live action movie “The Little Mermaid” new character posters. One fan wrote “Is this what y’all expecting? Is the realistic fish supposed to make me feel bad?” Jacob Tremblay voices Flounder.
Why does Flounder in the live-action movie “The Little Mermaid” look like Ursula’s horcrux?!?

After receiving a tidal wave 🌊 of reactions on Twitter, it was clear that the redesigned Flounder needed a makeover. Fear not, Little Mermaid fans! I have taken it upon myself to dive deep into the digital ocean and use the AI art generator Midjourney to reimagine the photorealistic CGI Flounder.

You may have seen my previous work, where I used Jasper Art to bring more racial diversity to Disney animated classics and envisioned what Disney classics might look like if they were directed by Tim Burton 🎃️
