I Listened to Him Cry
Kel Campbell

I was never really religious, at any age. I tried to be, occasionally; half heartedly. Usually at times when I wanted something I couldn’t have. How shallow, huh? Now, I am a fully-blown atheist, and I feel anger for what religion has done and continues to do to our world and its people. Needlessly, in fact, for religion does not give morality. Morality, is a “normal” human condition, learned from treating others the way we would wish to be treated ourselves.

Your piece gave me an insight into what it is to be thoroughly brainwashed from an early age; I’ve gained an insight into the torment of the evangelical mind, and I thank you for that. I wish you well in your recovery; perhaps it’s like alcoholism, and you will forever be a recovering theist. I wish you luck in your journey.
