RUBBISH

Paul’s commitment to Jesus as God’s final word drove him to rethink his tradition and his interpretation of Old Testament Scripture.

And not always known for his calming manner, Paul calls some of the old ways “RUBBISH” (PhIlippians 3) needing to be cast aside in order to “gain” (engage, know, see) “Christ.” The old ideas had met their expiration date.

And so it is today; the reality of Jesus demands that the Bible be read not “by the book”, but against the grain…a canon within a canon (canon: “measuring stick”);

Christ (not tradition) mingling Himself into every page and newly informing our reading of the Scriptures.

It’s clear, 2016 will be a year God will continue driving home the degree to which we need a transformed reading of the New Testament…in light of Grace.
