The church can inadvertently mingle personal ambition and the random pursuit of individual desires into the fabric of Kingdom culture, where elements of world culture begin blending into the radical message of Jesus.
“Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking”. Romans 12
But we have a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, whose DNA will eventually rise up and push back, preserving us, declaring that Kingdom meaning, and coming into all that Jesus has for us is a result of giving our lives AWAY – counter and antithetical to empire.
We all know if we look to aspirations and created things to give us worth, to give us hope and fulfillment – that which only Jesus Himself can give – it will eventually bring on that all too familiar sense of futility.
“This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the futility/vanity of their minds”. Ephesians 4:17
