Natural Athlete I am not

I am a realist so It’s not a new revelation to me that I am NOT a natural athlete . . . I was second string in 8th grade Basketball. I often wonder if I made the team because only 8 girls showed up to try out . . . I tried Track as a Freshman in HS . . . could barely keep up with most of the team when I didn’t have chin splints. I only competed in 1 track meet and got 6 or 7th in the hundred yard dash. I have to work an extra mile to be where most are at normally . . . so to say that Jiu Jitsu doesn’t come easy to me is an understatement physically and mentally . . . I am never going to be a world class athlete, Realistically I’m not going to ever compete at an Abu Dhabi or Pan Ams. I’ll be doing good just to make it one or two more NAGA’s or AGF tournaments if that . . . my knees grind going up and down stairs, my shoulder probably has rotator cuff damage, my spine has slight scoliosis . . . but ya know I am not training for the Olympics I am not sure I am even training to compete again. Although it’s a goal I’d really like to make happen along the path . . . my biggest goal is to make it to black belt before I die and keep active . . . Life is not a sprint . . . Life is not a competition . . . I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus — Philippians 3:14
