Making Your Recruiting Videos Matter
Face it your company doesn’t have the budget to make a full on professional recruiting video (see apple’s here), but more often you’re being told you don’t need to. You just need to be you. Smile, and share.
The reality is that growing opportunities for a company to reach potential job seekers through a virtual approach are growing. Be it a youtube video gone viral, twitter activity, a company’s Instagram or maybe even the casual use of snapchat. These outlets exist, employee recruitment videos being a prime example, but companies are still unsure of how to effectively create them. JobHive is changing that.
At JobHive we are introducing the concept of employer-made recruiting videos that’s purpose stress the importance of short company-centered introductions to job seekers. We reintroduce this concept daily, sometimes hourly, as we speak with employers across the country. Most of of which get hung up on the how, or what, or why to include such a feature in their hiring tactics

Truth be told, the market place is ready, and waiting, for employers to embrace the many ways to connect with job seekers. At Jobhive, we believe employers can maximize their hiring experience by inserting a video at the very beginning of the process – directly in the job listing- that puts a face to a name.
Here is what employers need to think about when creating an effective recruitment video :
Why it matters?
It matters because culture matters. It matters because transparency matters. It matters because authenticity matters. It matters because access matters. It matters because your job seeker matters.
Are you seeing the theme here? Employers embracing an opportunity to the outside world can send and control their message about the company and engage the right job seekers. Why wait for a traditional interview to let a potential employee in on the company culture? By then, you have already spent time on this applicant, and what if they don’t align well in your culture. Or worse, they don’t care?
Who cares?
Pivoting from the Why to the Who is pretty simple and I see it make a difference everyday. Job seekers care, but ultimately you , the employer, have to care that they care. Or what else would be the point?
What to capture?
Write down the three most important things about your company. Pick one, and focus in. A video editor is seldom needed. It can be a video production as big or small as you need. Maybe a few cool effects. However don’t depend on delivery alone to carry your message home so much as the message itself. The message should be the focus. Whether it is your mission, your company culture, the people that you interact it, the customer service you provide or the product that inspires you, hone in on this.
