Cyberspace! I would go further and say it doesn’t exist! It’s a construct used to describe some of the new avenues of human expression made possible by technology. As a separate space it doesn’t exist and it’s counter-productive to refer to it as that.

Politicians love to use it as a buzzword in order to imagine dangers in technology they don’t understand. It’s also a means to separate these new forms of expression from traditional expression; it’s used to deny people the same rights to privacy and speech that exist in older media (such as ‘print’).

Communication mediated by technology deserves the same rights and liberties. Cyberspace is just human space, the cybersphere is the social sphere.

We are just persons, not ‘digital’ or cyber- persons.
