Ok here we go, my first ever blog entry. Hopefully it will be the first of many interesting and detailed updates on my journey through life, exploring, documenting and photographing the awe-inspiring natural world that we all live in today.

Joe stood beside his latest photographic exhibition.

So, here’s a little bit about the man behind the lens — I am 21 years old and I am based in Northallerton which is a small town situated in England's biggest county, North Yorkshire. I am also currently studying a Wildlife Photography course at the University of Cumbria in Carlisle. Photography is my passion, you would be hard pushed to find me in a happier situation than when I’m stood on top of a mountain, setting up my tripod and camera in a rocky crevice, ready to capture the setting sun illuminating the rich and diverse countryside Britain has to offer. When all the elements come together and you’re ready to capture it, there really aren't to many better feelings than that for me.

So you’ve heard a little about what I have to say about myself, here’s what fellow course-mate, Luke Hasler had to say about me:

Luke Hasler

‘Growing up in North Yorkshire, Joe has been fortunate enough to have pristine countryside and views on his doorstep. Constantly inspired by the natural world; mainly the diverse geography and ever changing (and often rapidly) weather in Britain, led him to become a passionate natural history photographer; specialising in landscapes. The stunning landscape of our planet, has stirred a desire in Joe to explore and pursue a career in filming/photographing the natural world’

What’s next?

By now you should hopefully know a little bit about myself and what makes me tick. So the question is: what can you expect to see on my blog in the future? My aims for this blog are to keep you up to date with my latest adventures around Britain and sharing my discoveries and experiences through the use of my pictures and detailed explanations of how I went about taking them. As well as telling you about my latest shoots I will also be telling you about some of my favourite shoots from the past. On a slightly different note my blog will also consist of various University related entries that I don’t know too much about yet but they should be interesting and I’m looking forward to them.

Here are a few of my photos to give you an idea of what to expect from me in the very near future. I hope you’re as excited as I am!
