Sorry that you’ve been the punching bag here, BUT this twisted drama is starting to take on a positive momentum with a long-term beneficial effect. As you know a lot of people are lining up to support you, and especially your call for the left and the right to work together. In just the last week I’ve found myself with new compatriots I never knew before, like Tim Black and Tatsu Ikeda. The collaborative energy and contempt for identity politics among these groups is unwavering, and they have a lot more passion and moral force and intellectual integrity than the bullies on the other side, who all of a sudden don’t look so tough.

So in that context this drama is becoming a kind of trial run for the progressive or New Left movement to see how we will hold up when the Democratic establishment tries to drive the same old identity politics wedge between us (if they aren’t already). I think we’re acquitting ourselves well. The latest self-appointed Identity Politics police are not going to be defining the discourse, and their attempt is having the opposite effect - of motivating people to reaffirm our common goals and out commitment to work together.
