Some songs I’ve heard so many times, including covers, that I skip them.

Minnie the Moocher is one of them, however. The Boswell Sisters are a group I tripped over thanks to “Pennies from Heaven” starring Steve Martin. I had the soundtrack in high school. All the music was 1920’s and 1930's.

My parents joked as they left to go to the mall, “Want us to pick up some Bing Crosby records for you?”

I’ve been listening to the entire library of The Boswell Sisters and there seemed to be a lot more going on with their music than I had ever heard in any vocal group.

The more I read about them, the more I thought what a great story, which was made into a musical that never made it to Broadway. I still think there’s a solid biopic in this story.

The Bossies did original arrangements of popular songs, which was not encouraged by the music industry. But *that’s* why I find this stuff so much fun to listen to, including Minnie the Moocher!
