The Troubled Oil Business

This article is interesting but fails to take into account a far more disruptive force than IT: namely, climate change. Climate change will most likely soon be placing profound stresses on societies, disrupting the transition to a non-oil economy (by diverting investment dollars needed to fund the infrastructure overhaul) and calling into question whether tying all of our mobility to one type of vulnerable system (the electricity grid) is a wise move. Also, I think I’ll be waiting a long time before I see the day when solar powered planes capable of holding 100++ passengers take off.
