If Someone Tells You That You Can’t You Must Certainly Can
Despite some people’s attempts to boggle you down or perhaps tell you that you are incapable of doing something there is an easy fix: Do it anyway. There will always be moments in one’s life where it can get incredibly difficult and seem almost next to impossible to progress forward. Along with this factor, one also will come into contact with people who either don’t agree or don’t believe in what you are trying to accomplish. Here are 5 Steps that can lead you toward progression and away from the opposite.
- Stop Trying To Be A People Pleaser
So you want to study Music, Art, Drama, etc. The problem is your parents, friends and coworkers think this is a terrible idea because they tell you it will be hard to get a job. Baloney. Sure, perhaps it is more difficult to get a job in the fields listed above but that shouldn’t stop you from going forward with your pursuit. Don’t go for a Math degree or something that will just give you a better chance of getting a job. Do what you love because you love it; don’t do something just to people please.
2. Surround Yourself With People Who Believe In You
This step is very important. Personally, I have a desire to make it someday with something in the arts. My girlfriend is very supportive of me and so are a lot of my friends. While some “realistic views” are certainly placed in front of me, that doesn’t necessarily negate me from my desires. If the people that are around you don’t support you, it may be time to get some new people in your life.
3. Use The Negativity Around You For You
Growing up my father practically told me that I wouldn’t do much. He never really valued me or had taken the time to see my work (music, etc.) Now instead of worrying about trying to impress my father I use that negative outlook from him for my gain. Him not believing in me makes my hunger and long for success. I want to be able to achieve something wonderful. I look forward to the day I truly feel accomplished.
4. Dream Big
Your studying music and want to be a teacher; on the flip side however, you have a strong desire to be a professional musician. Make it happen. What is life without chasing for something? Dreaming is something important. Don’t limit yourself. Heck, if your an athlete and want to play professionally, go for it! This all of course will take work and practice but dreaming is an enjoyable experience. Fortunately, some people get to experience his or her dreams.
5. Have Fun
This is the most important part. Through this entire process you learn how to do two things: Breathe and have fun! None of this will matter if your not enjoying the ride. Hopefully you will achieve great things someday and really make a difference. Until then, breathe, have fun, and live your life for you.
