What She Said Versus What She Meant
In a recent speech to some high level campaign donors, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton declared that half of her opponent’s supporters were a basket full of deplorables.
In truth, his core supporters are not traditional conservative Republicans (hell, he is not even a Republican, for that matter). They are the fringe of society; they are racists, xenophobes, misogynists and sexists, just like him. I am to the point of being physically ill, screaming at the radio, television or computer which constantly forces me to see and listen to his particular brand of offensiveness. Each day I fear for our future, more and more, as the media bombards me with the stupid look on his orange face, the grating sound of his voice as he annihilates the English language. Seriously. Do you want this blowhard with a hair-trigger with access to the nuclear codes? It is bad enough that he is receiving intelligence briefings. That, in and of itself, is certainly a misnomer, an oxymoron, and I pray they are dumbing it down for him.
With each day that passes, with each vile utterance from Trump, we sink further and further into the dark abyss of our country’s ugly history, literally moving backwards when we should be moving forward. Race relations have been set back by fifty years. My faith in humanity is slowly and painfully being eroded. This is not meant to be hyperbole.
I am so sick and tired of hearing from Trump and his supporters about the lack of transparency from the Clintons, when he has done nothing but spoon-fed the electorate a bunch of bullshit. He has hidden his taxes returns, because of a supposed audit, when that is actually not preventive. Even if it was a legit reason, previous year returns could still be released. Unless the media starts beating this drum every day, it is not going to happen. Even if they do, it remains unlikely. He goes on Dr. Oz to dramatically release his medical records, which again was a theatrical misdirection, in which we learned absolutely nothing. We already knew he was overweight and allergic to exercise, other than his exaggerated arm gestures during those white power rallies.
This campaign is a ridiculous fucking joke of epic proportions and it is being played on those of us who are rational and have enough intelligence to see through the biggest lines of bullshit in modern history. It was never funny to us and becoming less funny all the time.
What she said wasn’t right, but she wasn’t wrong. And so, Nero fiddles on, while Rome burns….
