2017: On The Line — Week 2

The lines are looked at vigorously for those trying to make some extra money or those just looking for who is favored this weekend. Before my picks each week, I will list my current win/loss and push record from the previous week with my overall season record. I present to you the Vegas line of each NFL game this week:

Week 1: 9–6

Overall Record: 9–6–0 (60%)

TNF: Texans at Bengals (-6)

Texans (+6). I’ll take the rookie Deshaun Watson to shine against a struggling Cincinnati team. It’s time for the Bengals to turn the roster over.

Browns at Ravens (-8)

Ravens (-8). Joe Flacco and team always play well at home AND they get to rattle Clevelands rookie QB. I don’t think the Browns will cover like they did last week against the Steelers.

Bills at Panthers (-7.5)

Panthers (-7.5). I cannot rely on Tyrod Taylor to win me a football game. Even if Carolina is not firing on all cylinders, they can win by 10 easily.

Cardinals (-7) at Colts

Cardinals (-7). Despite the loss of David Johnson, the Cardinals win by a large amount over the worst (or second worst) team in football.

Titans (-2) at Jaguars

Titans (-2). The Titans lost a tough game last week against the Raiders and they will rebound. The Jags aren’t who we saw last week — don’t believe the week one stat lines and final score.

Eagles at Chiefs (-5.5)

Chiefs (-5.5). This could be a field goal game but Kareem Hunt is the difference again this week and they win by a touchdown.

Patriots (-6.5) at Saints

Patriots (-6.5). They won’t go 0–2.

Vikings at Steelers (-5.5)

Vikings (+5.5). I’ll take the points because the Steelers basically allowed Cleveland to stay in the game last week. Don’t doubt this Vikings offense.

Bears at Buccaneers (-7)

Buccaneers (-7). The first game of the year for the Bucs at home will prove to be too much for da Bears.

Dolphins at Chargers (-5)

Chargers (-5). Stub Hub Stadium shows the future of NFL stadiums — small and inclusive — and proves to be the difference by “charging” up the home team.

Jets at Raiders (-13)

Raiders (-13). The Jets quarterbacks cannot do anything and the Raiders blow them out. 13 points is hard to swallow but it’s the Jets.

Cowboys (-2.5) at Denver

Cowboys (-2.5). Denver barely escaped last week against the Chargers and that will not be the case against Dak and the rest of the Cowboys.

Redskins at Rams (-2.5)

Redskins (+2.5). I’ll take the points because the student (Sean McVay) has not moved past his master (Jay Gruden).

49ers at Seahawks (-14)

49ers (+14). It is easy to swallow points with the Jets but it is difficult with Kyle Shanahan. I’ll take the points in this division matchup.

SNF: Packers at Falcons (-3)

Packers (+3). Green Bay wins in Atlanta because of a final drive that ends in a field goal. Packers win by 1 and the 3 points is icing.

MNF: Lions at Giants (-3.5)

Lions (+3.5). Take the points! Stafford wins the game by the end of the third quarter. The Giants offense will struggle again. *now I do hold the right to alter this pick Sunday morning if we know Odell plays.
