On The Line — Week Two

The Vegas line on each NFL game is looked at vigorously for those trying to make some extra money or those just looking for who is favored this weekend. Wagers are just another way to spice up the football season. Before my picks each week, I will list my current win/loss and push record from the previous weeks. So I am picking all of the NFL games based on set lines that could or could not win me money if I was a betting man.
Current Record: 5–10–1 (31.3%)
TNF: Jets (-1) at Bills
Jets (-1). The one-point loss hurts from week 1. Somehow I just find the Jets ready to take flight and get one in the win column.
Cowboys at Redskins (-2.5)
Redskins (-2.5). These teams can’t defend but these are also the teams who had a 9–6 final score last year on Monday Night Football. I’ll take the veteran quarterback in Cousins over Prescott.
Bengals at Steelers (-3.5)
Steelers (-3.5). As a Redskins fan, I dismissed Pittsburgh last week on the road. Not this week. DeAngelo Williams has another monster game and Big Ben plays like Big Ben.
Titans at Lions (-6)
Titans (+6). The Lions were very lucky against the Colts last week and the Titans got blown out. When you get blown out, you tend to fight a tad harder the following week, unless you are the Rams of course.
Ravens (-6.5) at Browns
Ravens (-6.5). The Ravens squeaked one out and the Browns got smacked by the Eagles. There is no way I take the substitute teacher (Josh McCown) and the anemic Cleveland team.
Saints at Giants (-4.5)
Saints (+4.5). Both teams were on either side of a one-point game. The Giants won because of a ridiculous mistake by a Dallas receiver and the Saints lost on a 2-point conversion.
49ers at Panthers (-13.5)
49ers (+13.5). I just can’t not take almost two whole touchdowns. I just hope Gabbert makes a few plays to keep San Fran in the game, although it might be unlikely.
Dolphins at Patriots (-6.5)
Patriots (-6.5). Jimmy G turned heads last week as the Pats beat the Cardinals in Arizona. In the home opener, Jimmy G does it again.
Chiefs at Texans (-2.5)
Texans (-2.5). I took the Chiefs last week and pushed because of the OT touchdown. The Brock-wiler will continue to look good and Lamar Miller out gains Spencer Ware.
Seahawks (-3.5) at Rams
Seahawks (-3.5). This is a joke right? The Rams cannot keep this a field goal game.
Buccaneers at Cardinals (-7)
Cardinals (-7). I cannot see the Cardinals going 0–2 but Jameis Winston looks like the real deal and it is very difficult for me to go against him this week.
Jaguars at Chargers (-3)
Jaguars (+3). Bortles gets the job done in sunny San Diego after coming up just short against the Packers.
Falcons at Raiders (-5)
Raiders (-5). The gut-check 2-point conversion for the win last week carries the Raiders into their home opener. Julio Jones gets his for Atlanta and Amari Cooper gets on the board for Oakland.
Colts at Broncos (-6)
Colts (+6). I’ll take Andrew Luck gutting out a W and taking the points will be a cherry on top.
Packers (-2.5) at Vikings
Packers (-2.5). I can not trust floppy sleeves or Shaun Hill for Minnesota. Rodgers struggles a bit, on the road, in the Vikings new stadium but he pulls out the win.
MNF: Eagles at Bears (-3)
Bears (-3). Jeremy Langford has a big day on the ground for Chicago. Carson Wentz comes back down to earth because he will be playing an actual NFL defense and not the Browns.
