Don’t compare yourself to other gyms because most other gyms are failing.
Do you have a copycat mentality?
Copycats have been following the masses for decades now and have not only diluted but polluted this industry.
One of the biggest mistakes I see new gym owners make is looking at competitors websites, pricing, branding, services, etc. and adjusting their vision accordingly.
They see their competitor offer this deal, so they offer it.
They see their competitor offer this type of training, so they offer it.
Wait they dropped their prices, now we need to drop ours.
I can almost guarantee that those gyms are failing.
Your gym is now running with metrics and goals set way to low.
You’re formulating your opinions around losers who haven’t really achieved anything.
By following the herd you feel safe because all the other people are in the same position, they’ll determine your decisions and you’ll lose all creativity.
You’ll depend on others now to run your business always looking around for these people to point you in the right direction.
Whether you’re about to open up or have been open for 10 years, I want you to think about that first time you imagined opening your gym. The vision you had, the clients you were training, and the day you imagined it was going to be.
Now, have you changed that vision that originally inspired you because you’re following the vision of your failing competitors?
