Excellent article! I have taught and practiced Zen for many years and once had a student with excruciating pain in her wrist. I told her that while meditating, rather than resisting the pain, put all of her consciousness into the pain so there was nothing but the pain. She did and the experience of pain vanished. You are right: our mind is our greatest asset, IF used correctly. If not, then it is our greatest enemy.
