Psalm 102 cont.
“Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet unborn may praise the Lord; that He looked down from His holy height, from heaven the Lord looked at the earth, to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die.”
Allow me to take one point from the first section of this passage and expound upon it, and in time expound upon the second section. The point I desire to make is on the subject of abortion. For this passage mentions the unborn, almost as if they are people. Now, we know that they are human, making them people. However, the pro-choice crowd, or, as I like to call them, the pro-death crowd, like t deny the humanity of these unborn children. Naturally, no one can justify killing innocent children, or killing innocent humans, so, as the slave traders did, they deny their humanity.
They say that they are not really human, or at least not fully human. This is the tactic used by those transporting slaves across the Atlantic, and it was the tactic used by Adolf Hitler to justify his murder of the Jews. Now, tell me, if the same logic is applied from these evil practices as it is to abortion, does that not make one question the efficacy of the pro-death position?
We do know that these are unique humans. For at the moment of conception, that is when unique human DNA is written, thereby making it an independent human from the mother. It is no longer her body, for it is entirely different. No one can deny this fact unless they simply deny the known biology of this event. Naturally, those who desire to promote abortion do simply ignore these arguments, and continue on in their foolish ways of denying the humanity of the child in order to justify killing it.
Now, every child that is conceived has its own unique set of DNA, making it a unique human; which begs the question: is it ever right to kill an innocent human? I have noticed that most, if not all, of the abortion arguments are based solely upon selfishness. They whine and moan that maybe their body won’t look as good later, they complain that it is hard, that a child might interrupt their career, that it might ruin their social life. That they simply are not ready to raise a child yet.
I believe this final complaint is the only one that slightly holds water, if they are coming from the thought that they are not financially able to care for a child. This would, of course, possibly be putting the life of the child first, perchance. However, I do not in the slightest agree with this statement. Pecuniary issues are never a good reason to end the life of an innocent human being. Has no one ever risen above poor circumstances? Is it impossible to improve one’s station in life? Another argument against this one is the adoptive process.
It takes years and years for parents who have signed up to adopt an infant to actually receive that infant. The waiting list far, far outpaces the number of infants given up for adoption. Therefore, if the mother feels she is unable to properly care for the child, then adoption is a far greater option than death. And I know that there are many, many complaints with the foster care system, and yes, it needs to be fixed. However, foster care is wildly different from infant adoption. In fact, they are two completely separate entities.
There are many, many arguments against abortion, and we must always speak against it with empathy and kindness. For certainly pregnancy can be a constraining, sometimes horrendous, experience, and we must deal with it kindly. There is never, never any justification for the murder of an innocent child. And, if we examine biology, and see what it actually states, we can be assured that this is 1) human, and 2) innocent. Therefore, we must speak against this evil with all the power contained within us.
I could speak against abortion for hours upon hours, but I only have a few words here, so on to the second point. “He looked down from His holy height, from heaven the Lord looked at the earth, to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die.”
The Lord knows our plight. He knows that we are doomed to fall into sin, due to the sin nature which resides within all of us. We cannot help ourselves but fall short of His glory, 1) because His glory is infinite, and we could never attain it anyway, and 2) because we all will sin. God knows this, he also knows that we cannot enter the Kingdom unless we have been made pure. Sin cannot abide in His Presence, His holiness is too great to allow that to happen, and therefore, whoever sins cannot abide in His Presence.
What then are we to do? In truth, we can do nothing. We can physically do nothing to save our own souls. We cannot wipe away our sins, we cannot cover ourselves in righteousness. The very best we can do is repent, and even that we cannot do unless the Holy Spirit of the Lord convicts us of our sins. We all are “doomed to die” unless the Lord saves us. Unless the King descends from His Throne to rescue His beloved children.
And that is exactly what He did. Only someone holy can purify someone that is unholy. Only someone who has never sinned can take away the sins of the world; take them upon His back and wash them away, to be “remembered no more.” This someone, of course, is Jesus Christ.
Christ descended from His Holy Throne in glory in order that we might experience the full glory of the Lord. Without His sacrifice, we should surely die in our sins. Without His salvation, all would perish. However, praise the Lord for His incredible mercy to the sons of men! He did not have to give Himself, but out of His incredible love for mankind, “He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.”
