Weatherization Assistance Program Benefits Residents and Businesses

New York real estate industry professional John Salib earned his BA and MBA from Colgate University and Columbia University, respectively. Since 2007, John Salib has overseen investments and operations at Castellan Real Estate Partners, a firm with substantial commitments to green initiatives around New York City.
New York City’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) enables residents with qualifying incomes at or below 60 percent of state median income to work with local businesses to reduce their energy bills. The generous funding for the program has established it as the largest residential energy conservation program in the United States, benefitting both New York residents and businesses.
For example, WAP grants to organizations like the Harlem Community Development Corporation have allowed firms like Castellan Real Estate Partners to convert old boilers into innovative dual fuel boilers, providing New York residents with substantial improvements in energy efficiency and thus energy bills. The WAP program has awarded Castellan more than $1.7 million in its efforts to serve residents and simultaneously reduce the city’s emissions.
