Exploring SketchUp files in Virtual Reality

Recently I began working as an intern at Kubity and one of the first things that I had to do was to become familiar with SketchUp. I built my own 3D model, displayed it on the Kubity website and I was able to view it in Virtual Reality (VR) by downloading the free app. I am no architect, neither am I a designer nor developer. However if you are, this is a good site for you to be able to display your designs in VR.

On Kubity, you can upload your own designs made on SketchUp and watch your 3D model come to life on the screen and your palms with the Kubity mobile app. You also have the ability to explore the model, not only from the exterior but also from within, walk into a building, run and jump. In VR mode you could use the Google Cardboard, which is affordable or you could navigate in VR using your phone like a stirring wheel. It’s amazing because even though you know its a 3D model, you can feel and anticipate what it could look like in reality.

Check out this 5 minutes tutorial I made on how to experience your model in VR.

On the mobile app you can upload as many of your own SketchUp files by scanning their QR code off the website and have it save and display on your phone. You also have the ability to Cast it back on to the website by scanning the QR code on the site. And you could share your experience on your social network and/or email.
