I have definitely noticed a lot more locked stories on Medium.
Ashleigh Stephens

I went back and forth on what to lock. I used to barely lock anything, but as I grew weary of Medium I started locking everything.

I do think it limits our audience, but as much as I want people to read what I write, I care more about consistent readers than one-time followers. And I’m not suggesting that’s how you do it, but if you take the general poll of non-members, most of them will just read one story one day and one here and there and will never be raving fans. I hope that adds more context, but it’s on Medium because our unlocked posts barely get looks anymore via the algorithm.
