On a very serious note, it would do us good to remember how we got to this place of real danger, this far down the rabbit hole.

By my reckoning, and that of my nonconspiracytheorist election forensics colleagues, we got here because: a) We collectively took democracy for granted and had no objection to outsourcing its bedrock protocol — the counting of votes — to private, partisan corporations working in the pitch-dark of cyberspace; b) The supposedly free press collectively chose to ignore or ridicule every Cassandra who attempted to warn about the vulnerabilities of our vote computerized counting process to fraud and the exploitation of those vulnerabilities for the past 15 years during which we have slid down the rabbit hole or, like the proverbial frogs if you prefer, come slowly to this boil.

We now have fascism via fraud and, in our laziness and negligence (surely democracy carries with it the duty to participate in the electoral process not merely as voters, but as vote counters and observers), we pretty much had it coming.
